The gloves are great, amazing comfort and fit. I was a bit skeptical about the waterproof part; but I used them in harsh weather conditions and they work great.

Brand new out of the package, there was a seam open on the right glove. As soon as I put the glove on and made a fist, zippp, the seam opened up. The left glove had several snags/pulls in the fabric above the thumb area. I was hoping these gloves were actually "military grade", however, they appear far from it. Also note, I followed their recommendation of "sizing up" one size for "improved insulation and cold weather protection". I ordered XXL, normally wearing XL's. The XXL's fit perfectly with no apparent extra room, so if you order these gloves, keep this in mind. Just for comparison, I also own a pair of cold weather Carhartt work gloves and they're significantly better quality in construction.

I received this glove today and to confirm other reviews, it's like 2 sizes smaller than regular gloves sold in the US.
I've gotten gloves in Costco that is M but is bigger than these gloves size-L.

I almost got into gloves business so I visited a couple of factories in china before.
I know these gloves are definitely NOT military grade.
The imitation leather grip at the palm is very bad quality.
Besides being small, the velcro cuff is not strong and could easily come lose.
The glove is not really Winter certified because it is NOT warm by any means.
I've had some nice leather biker gloves that are really warm even though they were not "Winter" gloves.
They are also too light weight to be military grade.
Work-glove? NO way! I don't think anyone would be able to use this glove to work on wood, metal or hard winter work around the mill, farm or anywhere else but maybe play 30 min of snow ball fight (and it will get wet.)
If this were a pair of $9.99 gloves, it would be a good buy. But being labeled with the highest rank as in WORK, Waterproof and Military?
It is far from this standard.
I am returning this tomorrow to Amazon.

Spyderco C28SBK Review by alter

I lost my old AUS8 Dragonfly which was a great knife, surprisingly sharp and held its edge well. So I ordered this one thinking it would be an exact replacement. To my surprise the knife that arrived came with 2 upgrades. The one that arrived has the newer indent on the locking lever to make it less likely to unlock when gripping tight, unlike the knife pictured which does not. Also the big surprise is the knife is made out of a special steel, VG-10, made in Seki-City Japan, a huge quality improvement over the older AUS-8 which was more than adequate but this one is even better. Also the one I got has the laser engraved spyderbug on the blade unlike the one pictured. This is a premium knife, highly recommended.

I went from a 20 year old Delica to this as I wanted something a little smaller and liked the superior blade material.

All and all I would say that I am happy with the knife but that is not to say it could not be better. The knife could use some type of rough surface at the base of the blade. I have a larger Spyderco that has this and it would really make this knife "stay in your hands" better.

Unlike most inexpensive solar lights on the market today, this one was unique, attractive and NOT MADE OUT OF PLASTIC. It is primarily the same clay material that plant pots are made of, covered with amber tinted glass chips (mosaic). Very little to put together. Just put top on and push button to turn light on. Works very well and gives the garden a charming look at night. I got them on sale, so I consider this an extraordinary value.
I have prime, so shipping was two days, as usual. I have been very happy with amazon service.

I bought this solar table light sight unseen and am very pleased with it. The construction is solid and the mosaics are well crafted yet clearly show hand-made elements which I do like. The solar light just sits on of the glass and does what it's supposed to despite only having one LED in it. You're not going to be reading by this light or be able to use it as a marker to light up an area on your deck. It solely looks nice and pretty sitting on your patio table but offers no real lighting capability. That's to be expected though with this kind of accent light.

I was surprised to see it goes white/clear at night and does not cast an orange glow. This isn't bad - I kind of like having two lamps for the price of one, but if you're expecting to highlight areas with orange-like glows on Halloween with this you will be disappointed.

Being able to easily take the solar light off and putting in a real tea candle is a nice addition to this good-valued light.

This stylus didn't even last 1 month. The clip fell off before the month was out. However, even before that, the stylus didn't work. I had to tape 2-5 times to get something selected. My earlier stylus was much, much better. No issues at all until a small child bit off the tip! I didn't remember which one I had. I thought they were all pretty much the same. Wrong! This one is a bad pen and a worse stylus. Do not buy!

I was looking for a thin tipped stylus for ipad, and this item came up when I searched. The item description failed to explain that this item is basically just a ballpoint pen. Oh, and there happens to be a touchscreen stylus at the opposite end from the ballpoint pen. But it's not even a particularly good stylus --- it is soft and basically collapses to a fat smudge on your screen, nothing even close to the fine tipped stylus I wanted to begin with. Not sure why anyone would want this type of stylus. If you want to pay $17 for a lousy ballpoint pen, buy this.

This book gives a rudimentary introduction to Google's new Go programming language.

On page 53, out of a total of 170 pages, we are given the general form for how to declare a variable. At that point we realize this book is not going to have time or space to take us very deep into the language. Page after page is spent on things like how to install and dual boot the One True Os, introducing readers to the unix umask facility (yeah, odd bits like that), and everywhere long obvious code snippets with equally obvious ouput listings. And then there are the unending chapter summaries.

What are these chapter summaries really good for? "In this chapter we covered a lot of territory related to the installation of Go and supporting software. Go is officially supported on Linux and Macintosh. ..." etc etc etc.
I estimate the chapter summaries, which only repeat what was said a few pages earlier, alone fill up about 5% of this little book.

The code examples are not exactly colorful. They are all like:

> switch somenum {
> case 7: fmt.Printf("It's equal to 7\n");
> case 5: fmt.Printf("It's equal to 5\n");
> default: fmt.Printf("It's not 5 or 7\n");
> }

This is perhaps good, since this way they don't distract the reader. But it makes for a very dry reading.

Go is really a fairly primitive 3rd generation systems programming language. It has but few of the fancy features of modern (post 1970's) high level languages. Instead you get (very) fast compilation, garbage collection, some support for concurrency and then you're on your own. My problem with this book is that it's kind of for beginners who needs to learn systems programming. But beginners should perhaps instead learn Smalltalk, Clojure or Haskell or something, in order to avoid getting bad habits early on (I'm talking out of experience here).

And if you need to be hand-held through the 'basics of logic' as on page 82 (and recall this is out of 170 pages total), then maybe systems programming is not for you just yet:

Try to remember that, now.


Go Programming Review by Timothy Harig

I don't like to delve into technologies until there is a dead tree about it. Having a book written, tells me that a given project has matured enough, that even if it is not yet fully developed, it has enough momentum behind it not to disappear or change too rapidly to follow. It also means that I don't have to worry about the flaky documentation that is all too commonly associated with open source projects.

I have been interested in Go for some time now and when I happened to notice that this book had been written, I thought my time to learn Go had come. I couldn't have been more wrong.

This book is basically a self published, print on demand (The print date, the day it was ordered, is listed on the back page noting that it was printed in LaVergne,TN. There is not so much as a printers mark anywhere else in the book.), version of a tutorial that you might find on somebody's website. At $5 it might have been nice. At over $15, its vastly overpriced for what you get.

I won't fault the writing; but, the content is decidedly slim. This is definitely not the kind of comprehensive book that gets you up to speed on actually using the language or which one might use as a reference after they were done. The book covers most of the basic aspects of the language (even here it leaves out some important pieces such as the panic raising mechanism). Most things are not explained in much detail; but, there is enough for any programmer experienced in C or its derivatives to understand well enough.

What is not covered is overwhelming. The best analogy that I can think of is a book about Javascript which contains nothing about the frameworks in which it is used. It would contain nothing about client side objects, nothing about server objects, nothing about WSH/WScript/COM objects. Nothing but the core language itself. I was rather confused about Go's limited support for unbound dynamic data structures until I found out from a website that Go has a container library. Nothing about this was mentioned in the book.

I have now learned enough through searching out tutorials that explain what this book was missing, that I will keep studying the language. I would recommend that others either wait until the O'Reilly book is published or simply follow the online tutorials. Don't waste your money on this book.

it's a great product! My 3 year old son did not like to eat apple. Since I use the apple cutter, he is amazed by how an apple looks like a flower and start to eat apple by himself. This product is good in that is has the cover over the edge side so that my son can eat apple from the cutter directly and I don't need to worry about he getting cut.
Only gives 4 star rating however, because I believe it could be cheaper.
